Away from the earth,
Binds in the sky no longer twitter
Darkness falls upon us,
and high above the midnight sky.
No stars would shine, they wouldn't try,
To guide the world like fireflies,
Run, run away from here,
Where trouble and unhappiness looms,
And I no longer have to strive,
To survive in this world of doom.
Beyond this place of wrath and tears,
Looms but the horror of the shade,
And yet the menace of the years
Finds, and shall find me unafraid,
As life's curtains come rolling down.
As life's candle flicker
I will lay my head down to sleep,
And never will I stir.
